Kalaiya, July 30: The Reliance Sugar Mill of Manaharba in Bara district has provided compensation of Rs. 7.5 million to Rs. 8 million to sugarcane farmers, said Mills General Manager Shiva Nath Sharma.
The compensation was provided as the mills could not crush sugarcane of farmers when the mill was suddenly closed while running from December 27, 2013 to July 7, 2014 when it bought 2.2 million quintals of sugarcane of farmers of Bara and Parsa district, it is learnt.
This year, 186, 919 quintals of sugar was produced. Last year, the mill had crushed 1.18 million quintals of sugarcane and produced 106,500 quintals of sugar.
